HOW NAIVE I WAS…

Sometimes a person leaves a loved one because of nothing. Such “nothings” include unnecessary anger, unnecessary pride, overconfidence, and just looking at things through a different window. The song “How Naive  I Was” deals with such a situation, telling the regret of a man who, in a moment of anger, burned the bridges between him and the person he loved.

But life goes on…

The following instruments were used during the recording of the song:

  • Traverse Flute
  • 6 Violins
  • 2 Violas
  • 2 Cellos
  • 12-String Acoustic Guitar
  • Bass Guitar
  • Drum Set

The Lyrics:

HOW NAIVE I WAS…

I THOUGHT I COULD DO IT ON MY OWN,

WOULD NEVER NEED A HELPING HAND.

HOW NAIVE I WAS TO THINK THAT

LIFE WOULD BE BETTER WITHOUT HER;

I WOULD BE BETTER OFF WITHOUT HER.

* * *

I THOUGHT I COULD WALK STRAIGHT ON MY OWN,

WOULD NEVER NEED A HAND TO HOLD.

HOW NAIVE I WAS TO THINK THAT

I COULD FIND MY WAY THROUGH THE JUNGLE,

I WOULD NEVER STUMBLE AND FALL.

* * *

I THOUGHT I COULD SEE THINGS CLEARLY,

CLEAR ENOUGH TO SAIL ALL ALONE.

HOW NAIVE I WAS NOT TO THINK

SOMETIMES YOU CROSS A THICK FOG,

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO FIGHT HIGH WAVES.

* * *

I WAS SURE I WOULD NOT FALTER,

IN MY SEARCH FOR A BRIGHT FUTURE.

HOW NAIVE I WAS NOT TO THINK

LIFE IS WORTH LIVING IF YOU SHARE,

YOU WOULD BE HAPPY IF YOU CARE.

* * *

WELL, I COULDN’T DO IT ON MY OWN,

I NEEDED HER HAND ALL ALONG.

I’M NOW QUITE A BIT OLDER,

BUT A HELL OF A LOT WISER

‘CAUSE I NOW REALIZE THAT I NEED HER.

* * *

DO YOU KNOW IF SHE IS STILL AROUND?

AND I WONDER IF SHE STILL LOVES ME!

OR AM I BEING NAIVE ONCE MORE

TO THINK THAT SHE’S WAITING FOR ME,

THAT I’M THE ONLY ONE SHE WANTS TO SEE…

OR AM I BEING NAIVE ONCE MORE

TO THINK THAT SHE’S WAITING FOR ME,

THAT I’M THE ONLY ONE SHE WANTS TO SEE…

THAT I’M THE ONLY ONE SHE WANTS TO SEE…
